Out with the old!? Gracious! The girls have oodles of clothes & shoes that do not fit. That's just what I have boxed away for fall.... and I've not yet even purged closets & drawers.
Just how do you rotate out the old clothes??
I'm no master at this!! I know I want all this gone... and I don't want to go to Goodwill and give it away. Do tell how you win at this?????
A friend said to get a huge container. I filled that up in the spring with the fall small things. That's worked great this fall. I'm in the midst of 3 loads of laundry... wash, hang, price...
The first batch went to my local consignment spot... not only did they take all of my first batch!!! They gave me $40+ for my last drop... from spring, I guess!! Wow!!! I turned and spent half of it there again... but that works for me! They also gave me all the hangers I needed. Yea!
My last 2 batches did not make the time slot for drop off. I'm planning to take them to the CCC sale. (I committed to this before the alternate plan!!) I'll drop off oodles... work my volunteer time with the girls this year... and then shop the sale early!!!
At the moment I think I'm winning... I've yet to get into the attic... Oh, I want to win....
How do you handle.. out with the old & in with the new???
Learning & Trying!! Grace! ss

i tried sorting the binS by size and that didn't work. so now i sort them by type. so for example, all passable pants and long sleeved shirts go in a bin. all dresses, and t-shirts in another. all shorts, misc, and shoes in another. (this is just the 2 oldest girls, with sam's i finally just started giving it away to friends that have boys who are younger and the rest send to mexico. and with the babe i put stuff in a keepsake bin or give/sell pile). so when it's getting chilly i can just dig through the long sleeves for a couple or all, etc. the hardest part for me is going through the closet and having to admit which outfits i never actually put on the kids that season (even though they may have been cute or gifted) and i make myself pull them out and give or sell. our winter coats are always in the guest closet (cause quite frankly you just never know in Texas) ;)
oh but wait, i have recently been saving cute but not keepsake clothes to use for fabric scraps (hopefully for doll clothes, doll blankets, stuffed animals, etc... endless possiblilities)
We will miss you at our sale! We are more fun! ;-)
I kind of like the idea of dropping stuff at the consignment store and then the next time you remember to go in you can pay for what you buy with the money that they give you for the previous batch of items you dropped off.
You are great!!
